How do I SPLIT my parcel?
You may obtain a REQUEST FORM from the County Assessor's Office or obtain a form online at http://www.co.santa-cruz.ca.us/tax/taxforms.htm:
- You will be charged a fee of $72.
- The split must be on an existing history line.
- The Planning Department must sign off before the Assessor will process the request.
- Your taxes must be paid in full.
Are there other ways to SPLIT my parcel?
Parcels may also be split by recording a deed, a parcel map, or a subdivision map. For information about recording a parcel map or a subdivision map, you should contact your city/county planning department.
How do I COMBINE my parcels?
You may obtain a REQUEST FORM from the County Assessor Assessor’s Office or obtain a form online at http://www.co.santa-cruz.ca.us/tax/taxforms.htm.
- You will be charged a fee of $36.
- Your taxes must be paid in full.
- Parcels must be contiguous (not split by a road).
- Parcels must be within the same Tax Code Area.
- If combining into another Tax Code Area the parcels must be less than 45,000 square feet or worth less than $25,000.
Are there other ways to COMBINE a parcel?
Parcels may also be combined by recording a deed. To use this option you should consult a title company.
What about a LAND BOUNDARY ADJUSTMENT?
This is a type of split/combination which is routinely requested by neighbors wishing to exchange portions of their property. For information about boundary adjustments you should consult a land surveyor or title company. In order to process a land boundary adjustment the applicant will also need approval from the Planning Department (City or County).
