Since joining the team in August 2022, Alexandra has quickly advanced to taking on increasingly complex projects, managing a significant workload with a calm demeanor, high standards, and consistent on-time delivery. Alexandra meticulously designed and implemented the entire process, and with support from the Information Services Department, the new ZC procedure is nearly ready for production, promising significant improvements in both user experience and internal processing.

Alexandra has expanded this methodology to revamp the submittal appointment process for discretionary applications and report reviews, replacing confusing PDF forms with an intuitive, automated system that enhances accuracy and efficiency. Her innovative approach has significantly improved internal workflows, allowing technical support staff to process requests seamlessly while providing managers with essential tools for workload assessment and project assignment.

Despite her extensive contributions to process innovation, Alexandra has maintained exceptional productivity in her primary role as a project planner, exemplifying professionalism, efficiency, and dedication to serving the community.

The Mid-County Roads Crew is composed of Maintenance Worker IV Steven Garcia; Maintenance Worker IIIs Rafael Gallardo, Steve Scott, Morgan Bouchard, and Taylor Walton; and Maintenance Worker IIs Anthony Chacon, Cesar Vizcaino, Alejandro Rosas-Cardenas, Eduardo Morales, and Gabriel Vazquez.

The Mid County crew played a vital role in the critical and time-sensitive Pajaro River Monterey County River Mile 8-10 Levee Restoration Project, which focused on reinforcing flood protection for the Monterey County side of the Pajaro River, benefiting the town of Pajaro, an area historically prone to flooding due to levee vulnerabilities; and

The Mid County crew, alongside additional team members, took on this massive undertaking, working with remarkable dedication—days on end, and including weekends—to achieve the levee improvements before the winter season. The reconstruction process involved the removal, rebuilding, and reinforcement of the levee, with strict adherence to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' specifications, resulting in a more resilient and thoroughly reinforced structure.

Every segment was meticulously compacted, then thoroughly cleaned to meet safety and environmental standards, resulting in a reinforced levee designed to withstand the coming years and protect the vulnerable communities. With surveyors guiding the efforts to meet the required final grade, each stage of the reconstruction met the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ strict specifications, ensuring the new levee would be more resilient against potential flooding.

This interim restoration, designed to last 5–10 years, significantly improves the levee system, and its successful completion was crucial in safeguarding the town of Pajaro and surrounding communities from the devastating effects of flooding.
