The Commission on Justice and Gender (JAG) works to improve the lives of women in the criminal justice system, reduce recidivism and intergenerational trauma and crime, and hold accountable people and policies for reducing and preventing harm to women.
The purpose of the Commission on Justice and Gender is to identify and address issues related to women and girls involved in the criminal justice system, including trauma caused by domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, separation from children, lack of housing, and sexual abuse in custody, and make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors regarding these issues, in an effort to reduce harm to women and girls directly impacted by the criminal justice system and prevent harm to their dependent children.
